DASH Survey 2021

DASH Survey

Sartorius Digital’s role in the success of the DASH survey 2021.

In 2021, Timmus Research Limited and the National Lottery Heritage Fund teamed up with The Heritage Alliance to make the Digital Attitudes and Skills for Heritage (DASH) Survey 2021 even bigger and better than before. With the aim of getting over 500 organisations involved with the survey for a more complete view of attitudes and skills within the sector, this usually paid-for subscription service was provided free to the sector to help identify opportunities in which digital technology can support them and their teams.

Sartorius Digital supported The Heritage Alliance in raising the profile of the survey and encouraging participation.

Focusing on the knowledge that digital skills are critical to their staff’s needs in building a resilient business, we developed a strategy based upon futureproofing their organisation, supporting their team, and understanding the digital skills gaps and strengths.

“A total of 4,514 individuals from 323 organisations took part in the 2021 survey, compared with 4,120 individuals from 281 organisations in 2020. While only 40 organisations used DASH in both years, the proportion of heritage types and organisation sizes were very similar across both survey years… The brief was to attract representation of the full breadth of UK heritage (in terms of region, size and sub-sector), with the aim of reflecting the attitudes and skills of all types and levels of staff and volunteers working within them.”

The survey ran for 11 weeks during September – November 2021. Working with The Heritage Alliance team and The Heritage Fund communications team our strategy focused on providing informative blogs and social media channels, to garner interest which achieved an increase in participation from the previous year.
